What sort of interests do these photographs reflect? What is the relationship between painting and photography in those years in regard to the description of the Holy Land? What are the Eastern attributes that repeat themselves in the works of these European photographers ?

2.Orientalist trends in local (Israel being local) photography:
The course explored the ideological and cultural contexts in which photographs were pre- Israeli orientalist style. Explain the difference between the pre- Israeli orientalist photography, done by their first gains in Israel, and the Orientalist trends that can be identified with the Armenian and Palestinian photographers . What are the four main trends in local Jewish photography until the forties and what worldview did they represent (eg – photos of wasteland)?

3. Local photography trends in Israel between 1948-1973:
Describe the trends that were prevalent in Israeli photography from 1948 to 1973 .
What are the two events that were critical in the development of local photography in the fifties and why are they regarded with such great importance?
Give examples of two photographic projects that reflect these trends .
What are the gaps in regard to content between the contents of the photographs which are worthy of wide distribution among the public to the content which appears in photographs made ​​by amateur photographers?
Briefly describe the turn in consciousness after the Yom Kippur War. How local photography changed after this turn? Provide examples discussed in class.
